Raw 22.04.2024

Whoo-hoo! The RadiantGame Team is now in our city — Columbus, Ohio! Tonight we’re gathered at the sold-out Schottenstein Center, and we’re in for a good one. With the first tag team title defense of Awesome Truth against DIY, a confrontation between World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest and YEET Jey Uso, and hopefully another Sheamus fight — this night is packed! What is even more important - The Ring General Gunther will make his return on Raw! Oh, and did I mention? We’ll also find out who’s competing for the Women’s Championship. Raw better deliver tonight, so let’s get this show started!

Big News from Michael Cole and Pat McAfee

The show opens right in the ring with our dynamic commentary duo — Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. They drop some major news: tonight’s main event will be a Battle Royal to determine the new Women’s Champion! 🤯

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 1Raw 22:04:2024 - Michael Cole and Pat McAfee just revealed how the new Women’s Champion will be crowned tonight.

Honestly, it's a bit of a strange decision. A clever or sneaky superstar could easily win this kind of match and then immediately lose the title in a regular one-on-one. But hey, at least this gives every woman a chance — so let the chaos begin!

Jey Uso is Ready for the Champion at Backlash

The crowd erupts as “Main Event” Jey Uso makes his entrance. He’s got that confident swagger because he knows he’s next in line for the World Heavyweight Championship — and the fans are right there with him.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 2Raw 22.04.2024 - Damian Priest, your new World Heavyweight Champion, is fired up and ready to defend his title at Backlash.

Jey begins hyping up Backlash, but let’s be honest — we all want to hear from the champ. And right on cue, Damian Priest enters with Judgment Day vibes and surprising crowd support. The champion starts with respect, acknowledging Jey’s journey and even reminding him about the time he got “his ass whooped.” Priest even jokes about wanting Jey in Judgment Day once.

But the mood shifts. Priest says he’s NEXT, not Jey. “You’re just the first in line to fall,” he warns.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 3Raw 22.04.2024 - JD messed up big time, and YEET Jey Uso made him pay with a vicious superkick.

Jey claps back hard: he claims Priest is only leading Judgment Day because Rhea Ripley is out, and without her, they’re lost. Then he straight-up says: “Dominik is my bitch now!” The crowd LOVES it. Jey’s confidence is sky high — he's not just ready, he knows he's the next champ.

Suddenly, JD McDonagh tries to pull a sneak attack, but it horribly backfires. Jey dodges and Superkicks Priest instead! Oof. That didn’t look like it was part of the plan… and this could have serious consequences for JD. 🔥

DIY vs Awesome Truth (c) – World Tag Team Championship

It’s time for Awesome Truth’s first title defense, and I’ll be honest — I didn’t want them to lose this early. I’m rooting for a long and entertaining reign. R-Truth brings the fun (and a little cringe, as always), but let’s be real: Miz is the in-ring glue that holds this team together. Across from them, DIY is no joke. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano are ring generals with incredible chemistry, and they bring their A-game right away.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 4Raw 22.04.2024 - Johnny Wrestling proves once again he’s still got it—what a performance!

The match is fast-paced and intense. Miz locks in the Figure-Four Leglock early, but Johnny makes the save. And man — Miz was on fire tonight! Haven’t seen him this sharp in a while. Truth almost hits the full John Cena comeback combo, but Ciampa nails him with a Pedigree — close call! Then DIY connects with the Meeting in the Middle, but Miz saves the day by yanking Johnny out of the ring. In the final moments, Miz clears out Ciampa, tags in Truth, and together they hit the Truth Crushing Finale to pin Johnny Gargano and retain their titles!

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 5Raw 22.04.2024 -Don’t let the comedy fool you—R-Truth can still hit those iconic moves and light up the arena.

First title defense: ✅ SUCCESSFUL. Miz absolutely carried the team tonight — hats off to him. Respect was shown after the bell... except for Ciampa, who refused to shake Miz’s hand. Uh-oh. That was very un-Ciampa-like…

Judgment Day Begins to Crack

Backstage, Damian Priest is clearly unhappy. As I mentioned earlier, JD McDonagh's attack on Jey Uso was not part of the plan. Damian makes it crystal clear — he never asked JD to jump Jey, not this week and not the week before. That decision was made without his approval, and it ended with a Superkick to the champion’s face. Oops.

To make things worse, Dominik Mysterio decided to go behind Priest’s back and recruit help from Santos Escobar. This didn’t sit well with the champ either. Priest issued a firm warning: “Handle your business, and stay out of mine.” Trouble is brewing in Judgment Day…

Also, where’s Finn Bálor? Still hurting after last week’s match with Jey? His absence tonight only adds more tension to this faction that’s slowly starting to crumble. ☠️

The Return of the Ring General

Finally, the Ring General has returned. A fresh, focused, and — dare I say — happy Gunther walks to the ring, not a trace of disappointment in sight.

Gunther takes the mic and reflects on what happened at WrestleMania. No excuses. No whining. He doesn’t insult Sami Zayn — in fact, he shows nothing but class. During his 666-day Intercontinental Title reign, Gunther made the title more relevant than it’s ever been, and the crowd agrees. So do I. He places his name forever in the Hall of Fame of Intercontinental Champions and even thanks Sami for “taking this weight off his shoulders.” Now, the General says, he can hunt freely again.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 6Raw 22.04.2024 -Gunther just laid out his vision—and he’s got big plans for the future.

And that hunt begins with the King of the Ring tournament. Gunther officially declares himself a participant — and once that’s over, he’ll decide which championship to pursue next. Strong words from a strong man, and the audience shows their respect... but of course, the moment can’t go unspoiled.

Cue the New Day clowns 🤡 — Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston — out to throw shade. Woods reminds everyone that he’s the current King of the Ring, though honestly, I would’ve kept quiet about that. The Bloodline destroyed him and broke his crown multiple times. That’s not exactly the legacy of a proud king.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 7Raw 22.04.2024 - Making the Ring General mad? That’s a huge mistake.

Woods claims he’ll be a two-time King, but Gunther shoots back: “I see only a clown king here.” He promises to restore what the King of the Ring should actually mean. The crowd roars. New Day tries to clown Gunther for losing his title... but when was the last time they held singles gold? Three? Four years ago? Please.

Gunther has had enough. He gives the order: “Imperium, handle these fools.”

New Day Clowns vs Imperium

The Ring General stands near the ring to observe his troops in action, and honestly, you can feel his presence pushing them harder.

The match is back-and-forth at first, but Imperium’s teamwork and technical execution shine brighter than New Day’s antics. Their elegant yet punishing style continues to impress me. As usual, Ludwig Kaiser leads the charge, while poor Giovanni Vinci takes most of the punishment.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 8Raw 22.04.2024 - Poor Vinci—he’s pinned once again after a devastating tag team move from The New Day.

Not gonna lie — I expected Vinci to eat the pin again, and sadly, I was right. Imperium nearly had it won with the European Bomb, but Xavier Woods interferes, and once again, Vinci is pinned. Oof. Gunther is furious. He throws a chair and starts barking orders at Kaiser.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 9Raw 22.04.2024 - That was really a painful moment, and I feel pity for poor Giovanni.

Then comes the truly shocking part… Kaiser helps Vinci to his feet — only to slam him brutally into the steel steps, just like he did to Kofi a few weeks ago. It was savage. It was cold. And it might have ended Giovanni’s career.

Backstage, Gunther is very pleased with Kaiser’s actions. Looks like he gave the green light. Is this the end of Imperium as we know it? One thing’s for sure — the long-simmering war between Kaiser and Vinci just exploded. Sad to see it end like this… but maybe it was inevitable.

Drew McIntyre Still Crying About His "Hard Destiny"

Well… I expected something like this from Drew.

He walked out, grabbed the mic, and — surprise, surprise — started whining again. About CM Punk attacking him from behind, about Damian Priest stealing the title, about how fans cheer for the wrong people. Come on, Drew, you're not exactly a saint yourself. You provoked Punk, remember?

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 10Raw 22.04.2024 - Drew’s promos lately feel like he’s trying to cosplay CM Punk—and honestly, it’s kind of obvious.

And of course, he couldn’t skip another “woe is me” speech about Jey Uso. Drew complains that Jey took advantage — yeah? And how many times have you done the exact same thing? I was getting tired of the pity party… and then finally, something actually interesting happened.

Sheamus returned. Not CM Punk. Not Jey. Not Priest. But his best friend, the Celtic Warrior himself. Sheamus tried to motivate Drew, to pull him out of his self-pity spiral. He asked a simple question: “Why are you blaming everyone else for your own problems?” Great question.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 11Raw 22.04.2024 - If anyone can talk some sense into Drew, it’s his old friend Sheamus.

Sheamus then pointed out the obvious: Drew is obsessed with CM Punk. And how did Drew respond? By fat-shaming his best friend, mocking him for loving burgers. Classic deflection from the Scottish Crybaby. But in all seriousness, it turned into a very emotional and personal moment between two longtime friends. You can feel the tension rising. I wouldn’t be surprised if Drew eventually blames Sheamus too.But we’re not just talking — we’re going to get a match. Let’s get to it!

Sheamus vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Even though Nakamura hasn’t exactly been winning anything lately, he’s still a tough challenge for anyone — even the Celtic Warrior. Tonight’s match? It felt like a classic showdown, nothing too flashy, but still intense. Not much new was shown, but there was one highlight: outside the ring, Nakamura hit a flying knee to Sheamus' neck while he was laid across the commentary table. That was sick!

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 12Raw 22.04.2024 - Nakamura, the King of Strong Style, gives Sheamus the fight he demanded.

The whole match felt like a bear fighting a snake. Nakamura, like a snake, would strike quickly and sharply, while Sheamus brought raw power, trying to crush the air out of Shinsuke with big moves like a White Noise from the second rope. Brutal. I couldn’t shake the feeling that Drew would somehow cost Sheamus the win — just to later ask, “Why aren't you blaming yourself?” or some passive-aggressive nonsense.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 13Raw 22.04.2024 - That Irish Curse Backbreaker hits every time—definitely one of Sheamus' most brutal moves.

But to my surprise, despite Nakamura enduring a lot of punishment and kicking out of everything, a Brogue Kick finally sealed the win for Sheamus. Still, Drew? Not impressed. Didn’t cheer. Didn’t react. Just cold silence. Honestly, this whole situation is starting to feel… weird. These two should be allies, but I think we’re heading toward something explosive. 👀

Rough Week for Sami Zayn

Last week, Sami Zayn won the Intercontinental Title — and got immediately jumped by Chad Gable. Now this week? Bronson Reed steps up backstage and tells Sami that he's next in line for a title shot.

Sami, being the respectful champion he is, says he's down to fight anyone, anytime, anywhere. Fair, right? But Reed? Not satisfied. Instead of acting like a real challenger, he cheap-shots the champion and slams him into the wall multiple times backstage. Why?

Because he's not confident in his own strength? Maybe. Or maybe he knows Sami is too smart and too fast for him in a real match. Either way, it’s clear: Bronson Reed is the next challenger, but I’m confident Sami will find a way to survive this mountain of a man, too

Chad Gable Explains Himself (Kinda)

So, if I understood Chad Gable correctly… he was totally okay with losing to Sami Zayn. He even respected that the “hometown hero” got the win. But what triggered him? Apparently, Sami placing the Intercontinental Title in front of him like a joke. And what really broke him was Sami giving the belt to his wife in the front row. That, Gable says, was the final straw. Now Master Gable believes he deserves to be at WrestleMania and that he should’ve been the one to end Gunther’s historic reign.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 14Raw 22.04.2024 - Now Chad is no longer a mentor—he’s become a serious abuser, willing to use his own student to achieve his goals.

But wait just a second… Didn’t Gable already lose to Gunther — twice? Wasn’t it Gable who admitted he couldn’t beat the Ring General mentally, and tried to help Sami overcome that challenge instead? And then Sami gave him an opportunity, even though Gable hadn’t earned it in the first place?

And this is how he says “Thank you”? By stabbing him in the back? Chad Gable, you’re a hypocrite. 🥴

Tonight, Gable wasn’t just attacking Sami Zayn. He was angry at everyone, claiming he wasted his time training "losers." And yes, he’s talking about the Alpha Academy, who were all in the ring with him during this meltdown.

  • He verbally destroyed Tozawa for his dancing and constant losing.

  • He called Maxxine Dupri “a pretty face but dumb as a bucket of rocks.” Ouch.

  • And poor Otis? Gable said he’s his biggest disappointment. You could feel the heartbreak on Otis' face.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 15Raw 22.04.2024 - It’s sad to see, but Otis has become a huge letdown in the eyes of his mentor, Chad Gable.

For a moment, I thought Otis would snap and flatten Gable, but he didn’t even speak. Just stood there… broken. Now Gable claims it’s time for change: Alpha Academy is done helping others — now they exist only to serve him and help him win the Intercontinental Championship.

A new Chad Gable has emerged. One that’s bitter, selfish, and ready to play dirty.

Ricochet & Andrade vs JD McDonagh & Santos Escobar

With Dominik Mysterio out due to injury, Santos Escobar filled in to team with JD McDonagh. Not a bad switch-up, honestly. Escobar’s got the skill — but does he have chemistry with JD?

Match started rough for JD. Andrade had him completely outclassed, forcing a quick tag to Escobar. Unfortunately for Santos, he didn't fare much better — both Andrade and Ricochet were in full control. Eventually, thanks to a little help from one-handed Dominik, the tides shifted a bit. Surprisingly, JD and Escobar worked really well together, looking like an actual team out there.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 16Raw 22.04.2024 - Yeah I used to see Rick in such position recently.

But Andrade was just on another level tonight. He turned the match around with devastating offense, wiping out both opponents with style. There was a brief moment where it looked like JD and Escobar might steal a win… until Santos accidentally hit his own partner, setting up the perfect opportunity for Andrade to nail La Sombra, leading to a victory for Ricochet and Andrade!

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 17Raw 22.04.2024 - Priest didn’t need anyone’s help—he took care of both Andrade and Ricochet all on his own.

But the celebration didn’t last long.Damian Priest showed up, alone, and beat both of them down. One man. Two targets. Still, Judgment Day stands tall.Andrade might have won the battle, but the war is far from over.

Women’s Battle Royal: Crown the New Queen 👑

Interesting way to crown a new Women’s Champion — a chaotic Battle Royal, where most of the participants were tag team wrestlers. The true solo stars? Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, and Natalya. I had my money on one of them from the start.

Naturally, tag partners worked together early, but everyone knew alliances wouldn’t last once gold was on the line.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 18Raw 22.04.2024 - Nia just wrecked Becky and Piper—slammed them through the commentary table like it was nothing!

The powerhouses in the match — Nia Jax and Piper Niven — immediately drew attention, with everyone trying to gang up on them. Didn't work. Too early, too strong.

Let’s break down the eliminations:

1 Candice LeRae – eliminated by Maxxine Dupri (!)

2 Indi Hartwell – also eliminated by Maxxine. Big night for her!

3-4 Katana Chance & Kayden Carter – eliminated by Zoey Stark, who was 🔥 early on.

5 Ivy Nile – tried to challenge Nia Jax but got tossed.

6 Maxxine Dupri – eliminated by Nia, revenge complete.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 19Raw 22.04.2024 - I’ve got a feeling Liv Morgan might actually win it tonight—her chances in this Battle Royal look really strong.

7 Piper Niven – shockingly taken out by Becky Lynch! Huge! But Piper snappeddragged Becky out, and cannonballed her into the steel steps!

8–9. Chelsea Green & Natalya – eliminated by Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler. Natalya technically eliminated Chelsea first, but the ref missed it. 🤦‍♀️

10 Zoey Stark – eliminated by Nia Jax.

11 Shayna Baszler – also eliminated by Nia. She's stacking up bodies!

Final 3: Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, and Liv Morgan — just like I predicted: all solo competitors. Becky and Liv teamed up to eliminate Nia, who made a crucial mistake trying to deliver an Irradicator in the corner. That was number 12.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 20Raw 22.04.2024 - And your new Women's Champion: Becky Lynch!

And finally… after a fierce back-and-forth, Becky Lynch nailed a Manhandle Slam on Liv, eliminated her as number 13, and…

THE MAN is once again Women’s Champion! 🏆🔥 Congratulations to Becky Lynch! Well-deserved. She fought through hell and came out on top once more.

Final Thoughts

👑 Champion and Contender Face to Face

This was a really interesting segment. Damian Priest made it clear he respects Jey Uso, but still believes he's a level above him. Honestly, if I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t underestimate his opponent. Jey went toe-to-toe with Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, and other top-tier superstars—Backlash won't be an easy night for the champion. The post-segment ambush wasn't exactly planned, and I don’t get why Judgment Day members keep trying to impress Priest by attacking Jey from behind. Soon enough, we'll see who's the real deal here.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 21Raw 22.04.2024 -Jey totally owned this round, both in the ring and in mind games. But can he do it again when Backlash hits?

🤝 First Successful Defense by Awesome Truth

As I’ve said before—The Miz is a workhorse, and a big chunk of this victory is thanks to him. Yeah, R-Truth hits us with the old-school John Cena combos, which are fun and nostalgic, but he's not exactly the anchor of this team. He’s entertaining, sure, but not a powerhouse. After the match, I was disappointed by Tommaso Ciampa's reaction. I really hope this doesn’t mean the end of DIY or a heel turn from Ciampa. 😔

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 22Raw 22.04.2024 - Awesome Truth pulled off a successful first defense, but the real question is—how long can The Miz carry the weight of both R-Truth and the gold?

💔 A Heartbreaking Return of Gunther

Don’t get me wrong—I’m happy to see Gunther back. I respect him just like I respect Roman Reigns. He’s fresh, strong, and full of ambition. Winning King of the Ring would be a great step toward chasing new titles. Of course, The New Day is trying to stay relevant by fighting Imperium, and somehow they pulled off another win. But what happened after the match... that broke my heart.

I feared this day would come. We saw similar punishment back in NXT, and now it was Giovanni Vinci’s turn. Once, Imperium had four members, and now Gunther delivers the same "medicine" he once used on a former ally. He's tolerated Vinci’s losses for too long, and while it may seem harsh, this was a clear statement. He’s cleaning house. Let’s see what comes next.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 23Raw 22.04.2024 - Right there, it looked like Gunther gave a clear order—Kaiser’s in charge of dealing with the Vinci situation.

⚔️ Drew McIntyre Wants to Fight Sheamus?

Once again, Drew McIntyre is blaming everyone but himself for his failures. This time, it was his best friend Sheamus trying to open his eyes. To be fair, Drew acted like a true friend—defending Sheamus online, backstage, and even standing ringside tonight. But... something feels off.

I might be reading into it too much, but it almost felt like Drew was sabotaging Sheamus by allowing Shinsuke Nakamura to get the upper hand at moments. Maybe it’s just me—but the warm friendship they once had doesn’t seem so warm anymore.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 24Raw 22.04.2024 - Week after week, the Celtic Warrior keeps racking up wins—Sheamus is on a roll.

🧠 Alpha Gable

Once upon a time, Alpha Academy was Chad Gable’s dream—to train and shape top-level athletes. Now? It’s just a classroom full of underachievers. I get why he’s frustrated. He’s tired of wasting time trying to teach people who don’t want to win. Now, he’s shifting all focus onto himself—and he's going to use the Academy to chase the Intercontinental Championship

I’m not saying it’s morally right, but it’s going to be interesting to see where this goes. New Gable, new attitude. And he’s not afraid to use dirty tricks if needed.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 25Raw 22.04.2024 - Big questions loom—how will Alpha Academy evolve in the coming weeks, and what kind of impact will that have on Sami Zayn?

🎯 Andrade Improves His Position

Another match, another victory for El Idolo. Andrade is looking untouchable lately. He's sharp, dominant, and making a statement with every match. It’s only a matter of time before he steps into the title picture—whether it’s for the Intercontinental or U.S. Championship. Trust me, that moment is coming soon.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 26Raw 22.04.2024 - Andrade may have won, but Priest sent a clear message—he doesn’t need anyone’s help to deal with problems.

🏆 Massive Triumph for Becky Lynch

Determining a champion through a Battle Royal is rare—it’s only happened five times in WWE history. But what a moment for The Man! Despite all the chaos and punishment, Becky Lynch stood tall and claimed another championship.

Raw 22.04.2024 post image 27Raw 22.04.2024 -The Man stands tall tonight, celebrating her hard-fought triumph with the WWE Universe!

It’s a huge win, but I can’t ignore one thing: at WrestleMania XL, she couldn’t beat a real champion like Rhea Ripley. So, if Rhea comes back and Becky is still champion, I’m afraid we might see the same result again. Only time will tell how Becky will lead the Raw women’s division in this new era.
