Battlefield 2042: Radiant team favourite firearms

Hello solders!

As I play Battlefield 2042 almost every day, I've decided to share my preferences for guns in this game. I'm not a professional, and action-packed PvP shooters aren't my strong suit, but somehow I've managed to rack up some stats on my account, which you can see below:

This article won't claim to provide the ultimate answer on the best gun in the game. I won't promise that using a particular weapon will magically grant you 100 headshots or make you invincible. Instead, these are tips from a newbie to fellow rookies: which guns make me feel comfortable and deliver a lot of satisfaction as I navigate the battlefields. Every word here reflects my own experiences and opinions, which I hope can be helpful for new players like I was just a few weeks ago. So, let's dive in.

RM68

When I first started playing the game, I was eager to find out what weapon was considered the strongest in 2042. All the professionals were saying it was the RM68. So, when I finally unlocked this gun and played several matches with it, I couldn't help but wonder, "What the heck is this?" It had a small magazine size, a slow fire rate of about 600, and strong recoil when firing without aiming. I thought maybe it was just trash, or perhaps my hands weren't suited to wield this weapon of war. But don't make the same mistake I did by dismissing it too soon. Once you unlock some good attachments, this gun can deliver plenty of satisfying frags.

My setup for RM68 includes:

  • Shortened Barrel: Sacrifices a bit of accuracy for a significant boost in fire rate.
  • Standard Issue/Extended or Close Combat Magazines: Opting for the Standard magazine provides you with a sufficient 30 shells, allowing for multiple consecutive kills. Alternatively, the Close Combat magazine further increases fire rate while slightly reducing effective range.
  • LWG Grip: Despite the weapon's inherent accuracy when aiming, the LWG Grip enhances stability, particularly useful when firing on the move.
  • TR-1 Thermal 1.25x Scope: Offering thermal imaging capabilities, this scope is invaluable for detecting concealed adversaries, especially in dense vegetation or obscured environments.

Optional attachments for the RM68:

  • High-power Ammo: Although this type of ammo packs a punch, I personally find the recoil strength to be too much for my liking. Additionally, the magazine size of 20 bullets is insufficient for my playstyle.
  • Fusion Holo Scope: Considered one of the best aiming attachments in the game, providing excellent precision for your shots.
  • MLG Laser Sight: This attachment enhances recoil control and improves accuracy when firing from the hip.

Overall, the RM68 is a fantastic and enjoyable weapon with its high damage output, killing potential, low recoil, fast projectiles, and excellent accuracy.

BSV-M

One of the most interesting weapons in the game with great customization options is the BSV-M. On one hand, you can create a formidable marksman rifle with strong bullets and fast projectiles but a low fire rate. This build is ideal for wide, open maps and provides a fun gameplay experience. However, in most Battlefield scenarios where combat occurs within a 10-40 meter radius, you'll need a setup with good fire rate, damage, and recoil control. Here are my recommendations for optimizing this weapon for such engagements.

My setup for the BSV-M includes:

  • Shortened suppressor: This attachment increases your fire rate significantly but may decrease accuracy slightly. However, in close to medium range engagements where the BSV-M excels, this trade-off is acceptable.

  • Close combat/subsonic close combat magazines: These magazines boost your fire rate up to 860 rounds per minute, making it ideal for melting enemies in close and medium distances. Long-range shooting isn't as effective due to the weapon's strong recoil and lower damage per shot.

  • MGL laser sight: This attachment is crucial for improving hipfire accuracy, which is a weakness of the BSV-M. Additionally, it aids in recoil control while aiming, enhancing overall weapon control.

  • UH-1 Smart 1.5X: While it's hard to explain, I find this scope the most comfortable for aiming, providing me with the precision and clarity needed for engagements.

Optional attachments for the BSV-M:

If you truly seek to craft a marksman rifle tailored for silent eliminations at medium and long-range distances, consider the following setup: Extended supressor + T4Thermal 2.5X + Cobra grip + Subsonic high-power/extended + high-power/extended.

Similar to the RM68, the BSV-M also benefits greatly from the right attachments. While it may take some time to accumulate kills with this weapon, practicing in bot lobbies can help you become more proficient. Once you grasp its mechanics, the BSV-M can be a formidable choice for engagements at both close and medium distances. With the proper setup and understanding of its strengths, you'll be able to effortlessly dispatch your adversaries, much like melting snow on a warm spring afternoon.

M5A3

You might overlook the first assault rifle, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Absolutely not. It's a fantastic weapon that can function as an assault rifle, marksman rifle, or even an SMG. With various customization options available, I'll share my preferred setup for using it as an assault rifle. In my opinion, this weapon falls somewhere between the BSV-M and the RM68. Its excellent fire rate, accuracy, recoil control, and hipfire accuracy will surely make you appreciate this firearm.

Battlefield 2042: Radiant team favourite firearms post image 4One of the most versatile guns in the game - M5A3.

My setup for M5A3 includes:

  • TR-1 Thermal 1.25x: Ensures full visibility of every enemy in my sight.
  • Warhawk Compensator: Aids in controlling recoil with the weapon's decent rate of fire and adds a cool sound effect to shooting.
  • Standard Issue/Extended magazines: Provide a good balance of fire rate, effective range, and recoil control.
  • STNR Laser Sight: Enhances hipfire accuracy and recoil control for active gameplay.

Optional attachments for the M5A3:

  • Fusion Holo: A viable alternative if you prefer a different scope style over the thermal scope.
  • Close Combat Magazine: Provides even more rate of fire and lower recoil for increased effectiveness in close quarters combat.
  • Shortened Barrel: Further boosts rate of fire, especially effective when combined with the Close Combat magazine, essentially transforming the M5A3 into an SMG with a rate of fire of 910.

The M5A3 is one of my favorite weapons due to its flexible customization options and ability to adapt to different playstyles. When I'm tired of using the BSV-M and RM68, I enjoy switching to this gun to experience a fresh approach to combat.

MCS - 880

Allow me to introduce you to your first shotgun in the game. As is customary in the Battlefield series, shotguns excel as one-shot weapons at close range, typically within 10 meters. You don't need to aim for the head—just one click to the chest, and your enemy is down.

Battlefield 2042: Radiant team favourite firearms post image 5One-shot machine MCS-800.

My setup for MCS-800 includes:

  • TR-1 Thermal 1.25x: Regardless of the scope choice, as most of the time, you'll be hip-firing. I simply prefer thermal scopes.
  • #4 Buckshot: This shell type seems to offer the widest horizontal range, and it's a one-click kill regardless.
  • LS-1 Laser Sight: Since I favor hip-firing, this attachment enhances stability after each shot. While shotguns don't have a high rate of fire, every little bonus helps.

Optional attachments for the MCS-800:

  • Slug shell: This ammo option comes in handy when you find yourself needing to take shots at longer distances. Interestingly, these bullets maintain their damage output regardless of distance, delivering a consistent 75 points of damage with each hit. Think of it as a sort of sniper rifle but in shotgun form.

The MCS-800 is an excellent choice for close-quarters combat and defensive situations, particularly in confined spaces. With its ability to deliver eight one-shot kills in rapid succession, it proves to be a highly entertaining and effective weapon under the right circumstances.

SCZ-3

Can't say I love SMGs, but this new gun took my breath away. It's super effective at all close and medium distances, easy to control, pretty accurate, with high DPS. I just can't say anything bad about this gun. Sadly, I haven't unlocked all the modules yet, but I have my own thoughts on what I'll prioritize in the near future.

Battlefield 2042: Radiant team favourite firearms post image 6Season 7th sensation SCZ-3.

My setup for SCZ-3 includes:

  • TR-1 Thermal 1.25x: Probably you already understand that this is my favorite kind of scope.
  • Standard issue/drum: The gun has an extremely good rate of fire, so 50 bullets in the drum will help us to reload rarely and secure several kills with one reload.
  • STNR Laser Sight: A great option for an SMG, and I see no other option for this gun. Hip shooting and recoil control are most important with this weapon.
  • Wrapped suppressor: It's not really important which one you choose here. I just love the sound of suppressors on this gun. You may choose one of them.

Optional attachments for the SCZ-3:

  • High-power/drum: If you feel you want to shoot at longer distances.
  • Warhawk suppressor: To increase recoil control even more.

A perfect addition for a 7th season. You'll love this gun even in its stock version. It won't demand great skill or tricky mechanics. Just take it in hand, hold down the left button, and get kills.

Super 500

For the last gun, I chose a sidearm that impressed me greatly. Small but deadly, this shotgun will surprise your enemies when they think you're out of ammo and try to close the distance. One shot and the enemy is down.

Battlefield 2042: Radiant team favourite firearms post image 7Pocket monster Super 500.

My setup for Super 500:

  • XDR Hold: I find aiming with this scope easier for me. You should aim for the head or upper body because sometimes it won't one-shot a full-health enemy with Armor Plates.
  • #01 Buckshot: the perfect choice for close combat battles. Nothing else is needed
  • Switching to this sidearm has become second nature for me now. I confidently equip it and dive into the fray, often catching opponents off guard with its lethal close-range capability. The only downside? Its meager 3-bullet magazine.

These are my top-loved guns in Battlefield 2042. The game offers a plethora of options for creating the gun of your dreams, and I've selected ones that meet my expectations. They may not be the most powerful, and my choice of attachments might not be optimal, but they suit my style perfectly. I invite you to share your favorite weapons and setups in the comments :) Let's spark a discussion about this topic. That's all for today - I wish you precision shooting, plenty of headshots, and victories in every battle (just not against me). See you soon, and stay safe :)
