Hello, friends! The much-anticipated War Games event is finally here! Tonight promises to be a thrilling night with two WarGames matches, a Latino confrontation, and an IC champion match. The excitement is palpable, and I can feel your enthusiasm for this PLE.
So, without further ado, let's dive right into the action and get this extraordinary night started! Get ready for an unforgettable ride at War Games!
WarGame match: Team Bianca vs Damage Control
What a way to kick off Survivor Series! The big confrontation between Damage Control and Bianca's team delivered a spectacular and intense match that set the tone for the night.
As expected, each member of Team Belair entered separately, showcasing their individual strengths. However, when it came to Damage Control, they made a powerful statement by entering together with unified music, donning Asuka masks - a fantastic touch.
The kick-off show allowed fans to vote on who would gain an advantage, and Team Bianca secured the win. The match began with Becky Lynch and Bayley in the ring, but according to the rules, the match officially starts when everyone is inside the cage. This led to a thrilling warm-up with Dakota Kai getting involved, striking Becky with a kendo stick through the cage.
Shotzi then entered, wielding a steel chair and a trash can, dominating Bayley alongside Becky Lynch. Women's champion Iyo Sky joined the fray, using a steel chain to her advantage. As the clock ticked, Bianca herself entered, showcasing her unique strength with hair whips.
The entrance of Kairi Sane brought another level of excitement, with her executing a Pop-Up Diving Elbow from the top of the cage onto a setup of steel chairs a truly jaw-dropping moment.
Charlotte entered as the final member of Team Bianca, unleashing her strength with chops and overpowering her opponents. The match officially started with Asuka bringing an arsenal of weapons into the ring kendo sticks, tables, and a fire extinguisher.
Armed with kendo sticks, Damage Control initially dominated, but Team Bianca staged a stunning comeback. Charlotte's incredible Moonsault from the top of the cage and Bayley's defensive efforts kept the match unpredictable.
The climax saw Team Bianca securing the win with three finishers and a Manhandle Slam through a table on Bayley. Despite expectations, Team Bianca emerged victorious in this epic WarGames match. The personal skills and reunion of Charlotte and Becky proved crucial, delivering a perfect match filled with incredible spots and drama. What a way to start Survivor Series!
The Miz vs Gunther for IC championship
The clash between two exceptional wrestlers took center stage at PLE, pitting one of my favorites from the modern era, Gunther, against the seasoned campaigner, The Miz. Gunther, also known as The Ring General, brought an impressive record to the ring: two years as Intercontinental Champion, never pinned or submitted, and always defending his title with honor in one-on-one matches.
Tonight, he faced a formidable opponent in The Miz, a master of mind games and a strategist in the ring. The Miz wasted no time targeting Gunther's knees, attempting to weaken the powerhouse. However, The Ring General proved his resilience, countering each of Miz's moves with brutal strength.
In a surprising turn of events, The Miz displayed his resilience by kicking out of Gunther's Bomb. The momentum seemed to shift when Miz, ever the opportunist, exploited a moment by tearing off the ring pad and executing two low blows, followed by the Skull Crushing Finale. It appeared as though victory was within Miz's grasp, but The Ring General had other plans.
With a powerful kick-out, Gunther rallied back with a devastating Lariat, followed by a Sleeper and a Splash from the third rope. The match concluded with an iconic reference to Chris Jericho, as Gunther secured the victory with a Walls of Jericho-like submission.
It was a great match that showcased Miz's efforts to reclaim the title and Gunther's unstoppable determination. Looking ahead, my dream of Gunther facing the Tribal Chief could indeed be a match of the decade, a battle between two indomitable champions.
Santos Escobar vs Dragon Lee
A classic match unfolded between two Lucha Libre stars, where the seasoned Santos Escobar the Emperor of Lucha Libre faced with the evolution of Mexican wrestling Dragon Lee.
In this clash of styles and experience, Escobar's technical prowess and extensive knowledge of winning strategies were pitted against Dragon's fiery spirit. The match was a beauty of Lucha Libre, with both competitors showcasing their unique skills and agility.
The initiative continually shifted, with impressive jumps and counters from both wrestlers. However, in a pivotal moment, Santos Escobar displayed his mastery with a rear and awe-inspiring Canadian Destroyer, concluding the match with the Fantom Driver.
Although Dragon fought valiantly, Santos Escobar emerged victorious, solidifying his position as the current top contender. The question now lingers on what's next for Santos a potential one-on-one with Rey Mysterio or perhaps a challenge from the recovering Carlito when he's ready to test his strength against this formidable opponent.
Rhea Ripley vs Zoey Stark for the Women's World Title
Match what was possesed like clash of two brutal competetors turned out to be a source of frustration for me, especially considering the lack of interest or expectation going into it. While Zoey had previously delivered a Z-360 to the champion in a fatal 5-way match, this time, Rhea seemingly dominated her opponent without much difficulty.
The match itself didn't provide any standout moments, and its duration was relatively short. It appeared to lack the excitement or intensity typically associated with a collision between two formidable women in the ring. Rhea Ripley secured the victory with a Riptide, bringing the match to a relatively straightforward conclusion.
Sometimes, not every match lives up to expectations, and it seems like this one fell into the category of a more routine encounter. Wrestling fans often anticipate those "OMG moments" or unexpected twists, and when a match doesn't deliver those elements, it can result in a feeling of frustration or disappointment.
WarGame match: Team Cody vs Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre
The main event of the evening brought the much-anticipated WarGames match between Jugment Day and Team Cody, with the fate of WWE hanging in the balance. With experienced competitors on both sides, the match promised to be an epic clash.
Seth Rollins and Finn Balor kicked things off, showcasing their previous encounters for the Heavyweight Championship. However, when JD McDonagh entered the fray alongside Seth, they used kendo sticks to take control. The turning point came when Jey Uso joined the battle, aiding Seth and shifting the momentum. Damian Priest, however, had a plan and entered the cage, working strategically with Finn and JD to regain control.
The arrival of Sami Zayn added more chaos to the mix, as he brought a table into play, pleasing the crowd with their love for tables. Drew McIntyre finally made his entrance, using his brutal force to neutralize opponents. His focus on Jey Uso, the one who cost him the WWE Championship, was evident, but American Nightmare Cody Rhodes came to the aid of his team.
Dominik Mysterio, the last to enter for Jugment Day, provided a last-ditch effort for victory. With the timer running out, all eyes turned to the ramp, anticipating Randy Orton. However, a surprise twist occurred as Rhea Ripley entered with Damian Priest's Money in the Bank briefcase. The realization hit that Priest could potentially become the champion during the match.
Finally, the familiar music of Randy Orton echoed through the arena, signaling his long-awaited return. Orton looked to be in incredible physical shape, creating a warm feeling among fans. The WarGames match officially began, and Randy showcased his classic moves. Despite being ready for an RKO, he unexpectedly signaled to Jey Uso, reminding him of past grievances. Jey, in a surprising turn, saved Orton by delivering a super kick to Priest.
The climax of the match featured an unforgettable RKO from the top of the cage to JD and a CrossRoads to Priest, leading to the final pin. Team Cody emerged victorious in this epic WarGames battle, providing an exhilarating conclusion to the night. The return of Randy Orton added a nostalgic and awe-inspiring element to the match, making it a truly epic moment in WWE history.
CM Punk is come back to WWE
What a shocking turn of events! After the WarGames match concluded and it seemed like the show was about to go off the air, the arena erupted with the music that hadn't been heard for many years the iconic entrance theme of the "Best in the World," CM Punk! This unexpected return of CM Punk in Chicago is undoubtedly another OMG moment of the night.
I have heard rumors about CM Punk's potential comeback, but witnessing it become a reality is truly mind-blowing. The return of CM Punk raises numerous questions and opens up a world of opportunities for the future of WWE. Fans around the world are likely buzzing with excitement and anticipation for what this comeback could mean for the landscape of professional wrestling.
Ranking and Opinion
Well, this PLE exceeded my expectations and left me with a plethora of positive emotions. Almost every match was captivating and filled with intrigue. While it's disheartening to see both Damage Control and Jugment Day face defeats, it emphasizes that real teams might be at a disadvantage against solo mega stars working in unison.
The only match that didn't quite meet my expectations was Rhea's title defense, but the remaining bouts were at an exceptionally high level. I'd easily rate this show as a 9/10, thanks to the fantastic matches, surprising comebacks, and the overall electric atmosphere. Now, I'm eagerly anticipating the upcoming Raw and SmackDown. I can't help but wonder: What does Roman Reigns think about all that transpired at PLE? We'll find out soon. Stay safe, and see you soon!
