City Skylines 2: performance improvement plan

The recent release of City Skylines 2 fell short of the warm reception developers were expecting. The primary grievance centers on game stability and high FPS issues, even on the latest graphics cards such as the GeForce 4090. Players are disheartened, questioning the worth of a $1600 graphics card when the maximum FPS rate is capped at 24-30 frames per second. This discontent has translated into mixed reviews on Steam, with an approval rating of about 49%, and a comparatively low user score of 3.3/10 on Metacritic.

Colossal Order, the developers, responded to the backlash by asserting that 30 FPS is adequate for a city-building simulator of this kind. However, they have committed to delivering several small and one substantial patch to address freezes, improve CPU optimization, and broaden the selection of available image scaling methods.

Their explanation implies a stance that increasing the FPS rate to 60 may introduce simulation problems and potential crashes. When questioned about the decision to release the game before the optimization process was complete, developers argued that, for most players, performance is the pivotal factor in a building simulator. Delaying the release, they contended, would have been unfair to the majority of players.

Yeah, good answer, considering the low ratings and the sheer impossibility to play without your head blowing off because of lags and freezes. Well, waiting for upcoming patches and fixes.
